Mrs. Bjarman's letter Jan.10th 1969.
Back to index here.
This is a letter Mrs. Bjarman wrote to my grandfather. In Her report written in 1987 for the then Mayor of Reykjavík Mr. Davíð Oddsson (later prime minister of Iceland and now the foreign minister),she writes she delivered it personally to him but that he showed little interest. Not surprising, less than two weeks later he was comitted to the mental ward at the City hospital where he died in the spring of 1972. Note nowhere in the letter is there any mention this was a gift. Mrs. Steinunn Bjarman though writes about this having been a gift in her report she made after 1987.

Dear master!
This November, Mr. Lárus Blöndal the keeper of the City archives had me go thru and sort things that came from you at that time. This was done by taking out of the boxes that came, the contents vacumcleaned, dried, washed or cleaned as necessary . The content was then sorted, recorded and arranged in boxes. The boxes where then glued shut, tied and sealed.
Two cleaning ladies worked with me and all us have tried to handle this carefully avoiding to look at letters and the like. This work is now done and I am sending you a copy of the list of inventory I did as I packed these things into the boxes. I hope when you read the list you will find everything kept in order as was possible
With respect and dear regards.
